Easy Jubilee Crafts for the Whole Family
The Platinum Jubilee will be a day to remember. Get into the Jubilee spirit and create these fun and easy crafts with your family!
The very special Platinum Jubilee is almost upon us and everyone is ready to celebrate! Street parties are being planned, gardens are being prepped, and decorations are being made. Often, the build-up to a big event is just as fun as the event itself- and the Jubilee is no different. Get your scissors and glue at the ready, because we have pulled together our favourite easy Jubilee crafts you can get the whole family involved in!
What Is The Platinum Jubilee?
For those who don’t know, the Platinum Jubilee will celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II being the ruling monarch of the U.K. and Commonwealth. The Platinum Jubilee will take place over a four day bank holiday weekend, from 2nd-5th June. Patriotic citizens will take this opportunity to celebrate, usually in the form of a street or garden party with family and friends. Decorations are, of course, a must. Many might take the opportunity to create their own, and we’re going to show you how to do just that!
Easy Jubilee Bunting
Bunting is a classic party decoration- no celebration is complete without it! You can easily make your own Jubilee bunting with some coloured art card, glue, string, and some felt tip pens!
Steps:
1. Cut out rectangles using the blue coloured card. If you don’t have blue card, you can use white and colour in the flag design later.
2. Using a pencil and a ruler, draw the Union Jack design onto the card you’ve cut out.
3. Once drawn, cut out red and white card to stick onto the blue card to create a flag. If you don’t have additional coloured card, use felt tip pens to colour in the design.
4. When you have finished all of your flags, cut holes in two adjacent corners that you can thread string through. If you have a hole punch, you can use this instead.
5. Carefully thread string through the holes you have created and you’re done!
You can hang up this Jubilee bunting all over your house, garden, street, wherever you want! If you want to make colouring in your own bunting a little easier, you can find a premade decoration colouring sheet to print out on our Ryman Activity Club page. To make it even easier, you can buy our own Jubilee bunting right here!
Fabulous Jubilee Flags
If having the bunting isn’t enough, you can make your own flags! Whether they’re just for table decoration or you want to wave them to your heart's content, we have fun Jubilee flags you can create with the family. You’ll need to grab some coloured card, felt tip pens, glue, and pipe cleaners.
Steps:
1. Cut out rectangles using your art card.
2. Draw the flag design onto your cut out card using a pencil and ruler.
3. Using the other coloured card cut out the flag patterns, or colour the design in with felt tips.
4. Stick the card to a pipe cleaner using glue. We would recommend using a hot glue gun to ensure the flag is completely secure. Children must be supervised
when using this item.
5. Let the glue dry and then you’ll have your very own flag!
These Jubilee flags are great for table settings or for having fun waving it at a street party. You can also can flags ready to colour in on our Ryman Activity Club page, or buy them with no crafting necessary right here!
Simple Jubilee Kids Crown

You’ll want to grab some trusty art card, glue, and lots of bits and bobs to decorate like glitter, gems and felt tip pens. One of the best things about creating your own crown- you can decorate it however you like! Grab all of the sparkly things your kids could possibly want from on our website.
Steps:
1. First measure around the head of the person who will wear the crown using a tape measure and take note of the size.
2. Choose a piece of art card that you want to make the crown out of and draw the outline of a crown on it. Use the measurements you just took to make sure it’s the right size.
3. Cut out the design using scissors and make sure children are supervised.
4. Choose your favourite glitter, felt tips, and gems to decorate the crown. Make sure you leave a gap on the ends to glue them together.
5. Once everything has dried, carefully secure ends of the crown together with glue so it can be worn.
6. Wear the crown and rule over your imaginary kingdom!
We think creating your own crown will take your Jubilee celebrations to the next level, and will look great next to your other Jubilee decorations.
Fantastic Jubilee Photo Frames
The Platinum Jubilee is a huge landmark event and will definitely be a day to remember! So why not make your own photo frame? You’ll definitely be taking a lot of photos at your Jubilee party and they’ll need a place to go. Get your kids involved and create your own Jubilee photo frame to make looking back at those photos even more special.
For this simple craft, you will need some art card, a ruler, scissors, glue, felt tip pens, and lots of glittery embellishments!
Steps:
1. Draw a rectangle that’s 4 x 6 inches in the middle of a piece of art card and leave this area blank- your photo will go here.
2. Decorate the border that you have just drawn using felt tip pens, glitter, gems- whatever you like! You could draw small Union Jack flags on to really get into the Jubilee spirit.
3. When all of the decorations on your frame have dried, you can stick your favourite Jubilee photo onto the frame and hang it up!
Make sure you keep these treasured memories safe for years to come in your homemade photo frame.
Easy Egg Soldiers
When you think of the Queen, often you also think of British Beefeaters who stand guard outside of Buckingham Palace. These iconic soldiers are perfect to paint on hard boiled eggs for cute table decorations.
To create these little table guardians you’ll need some eggs, acrylic paint, paint brushes, and egg cups.
Steps:
1. Hard boil your eggs to make sure they don’t break, then let them cool.
2. Begin painting the Beefeater bearskin hats and the iconic red jacket then wait for them to dry.
3. Add in the jacket details such as the belt, chin strap on the helmet, and a little face.
4. Let the paint dry, and if any little touch ups are needed add them now.
5. Once the paint is bone dry then place your eggs into their egg cups and pop them on your table as decorations!
This is an extremely fun and easy craft that the whole family can get involved with, and having homemade table decor gives your party a more personal touch.
