In the October of 1893, a young Henry Ryman flipped over the ‘Open’ sign to his brand new shop on Great Portland Street, London. Ryman Stationery was officially born. From then to now, we’ve had over 128 years’ experience in providing essential stationery items, and expert product knowledge.

History
1893: Henry J Ryman opens his first store on Great Portland Street, London.
1970s: The family business is sold. Over the next 20 years its owners included Burton Group, Terence Conran, Jennifer d’Abo and Pentos.
1995: Ryman is acquired by Chancerealm Ltd (later known as Ryman Group Ltd), in which Theo Paphitis is the controlling shareholder.
2001: Ryman acquires Partners the Stationers, comprising 86 stores.
2007: Ryman acquires 61 Stationery Box stores, which are rebranded to Ryman by October 2008.
2009: Ryman partners with Red Nose Day, raising more than £500,000 for Comic Relief through colleague fundraising and the sale of exclusive products.
2014: Ryman becomes headline sponsors of the National Enterprise Challenge (a challenge designed to help children to leave school ‘work ready’.
2016: Ryman acquires London Graphic Centre.
2020: Ryman relaunches ryman.co.uk with an extended range of products and improved shopability
2021: Ryman launches its new ‘business’ specific website rymanbusiness.com enabling business and education account customers to shop online.

Ryman helped raise over 4.7 Million for Comic Relief and Sports Relief between 2012 - 2018
Ryman have worked with Manchester Children’s Hospital for over 12 years and have raised over £139,944 for their ‘Many Hands’ Campaign
The Theo Paphitis Charitable Trust was launched 15 years ago, with the aim of helping as many charities across the UK as possible an has so far raised 1 million in charity donations
Ryman was the headline sponsor for The National Enterprise Challenge, the UK’s largest school enterprise day, for five years until 2019. It is a nationwide competition with the aim of finding Britain’s next generation of budding entrepreneurs. Over 60,000 young people from more than 200 schools have already taken part.
